Secular Humanism

is a

Religion

by

Karen Pansler-Lam, J.D.

As you know, secular humanists are trying to destroy all acts of reverence and respect toward Christianity.  Secular humanists taunt us to challenge authority. Secular humanists taunt us to challenge religion.

Secular humanists declare religion - Christianity - is outdated and irrelevant; and deny secular humanism is a religion.  But secular humanism is a religion.  In fact, the signers of the 1933 Humanist Manifesto called themselves religious humanists.  Later when religious humanists began to push their non-theistic agenda in the public schools, they called themselves "secular" humanists.  If you have never read any of the humanist manifestos, please take a few minutes to do so.  They are fairly short:

Humanist Manifesto 1

Humanist Manifesto 2

http://www.americanhumanist.org/about/manifesto2.php

Humanist Manifesto 3

Secular humanists don’t put their faith in God; they put their faith in man. They believe mankind is the highest form of intelligence: we have the answers to all our problems. They worship science: psychology, sociology, political science, and so forth.  With their excessive admiration and worship of humanity, secular humanists have deified man: man is God.  What foolishness!  What arrogance!

When my husband and I read chapter 38 in the Book of Job the other day, I thought of the arrogance of secular humanists:

Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

Who is this that darkeneth counsel by word without knowledge?

Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me:

Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?  declare, if thou hast

understanding.

Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest?  or who hath stretched the

line upon it?

Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened?  or who laid the corner stone thereof;

When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

God does not give Job an explanation for his suffering.  But He reminds Job that He is the sovereign, all-powerful, omnipotent Creator of the universe whose ways are beyond human understanding.  He does not have to justify and defend His actions to man.

God’s answer humbles Job; God’s answer humbles me.

Secular humanists are arrogant. And man’s arrogance is man’s ignorance. Secular humanists show their ignorance by professing that man is the Supreme Being. Man is not omnipotent: man has limited power.  Man is not omnipresent: man can be physically present one place at a time only.  Man is not all-knowing: man has limited knowledge.

God alone is omnipotent.

God alone is omnipresent.

God alone is omniscient.

Yes, secular humanists lack wisdom and knowledge.  Secular humanism is a religion of arrogance and ignorance.  Man is not a god.  Man is not God.  Secular humanism is a religion for fools.
